How old were you when your family adopted?  Hmmm. About 8, I wanna say. Maybe actually 10?

 

What were some good things that your parents did to help you adjust before and after the adoption?

I’ll be honest. This one was so long ago that I don’t quite remember. I do recall having some difficulties sleeping with a baby in the room, who would wake up and cry. The next one slept in Mom and Dad’s room. You could say we adjusted there.  It’s kinda always been a part of my life.

What was your initial reaction when you learned you were going to get a new sibling?    Um-m... excitement, I think.

What was your initial reaction when you first met your new sibling?      

I think some degree of fascination. It was like any other kid getting a new sibling.

How long did it take for your sibling to adjust to your family?  How long did it take for things to feel “normal” again?

 

They were all so young, the adjustment was on our part. The real adjustment for me was the sleeping arrangement, and the small things like seating order in the car. (That was a huge pecking order thing growing up.)

 

Has there ever been a time when you wished your family had not adopted (even briefly)?      Nope.
